The Engineering Physics program is designed for students who have an interest in and an aptitude for both engineering and physics. Students start with a year mathematics (MATH 50 or CME 100 series) and a year of calculus-based physics. The mission of the undergraduate program in Engineering Physics is to provide students with a strong foundation in physics and mathematics, together with engineering and problem-solving skills. All majors take high-level math and physics courses as well as engineering courses. This degree program prepares students for either an industrial career or further advanced degrees in applied physics, physics or engineering disciplines. Stanford undergraduates, regardless of undergraduate major, who are interested in a M.S. degree at the intersection of applied physics and engineering may choose to apply for the coterminal Master of Science program in Applied and Engineering Physics.
